After about 36 hours travelling to Australia, the first two teams are set to go back home after being eliminated at IEM Sydney. Vitality, number 1 team in the world, lost its second game in the tournament as they were defeated by FaZe by 2-1 this Monday. Apeks took down the Australians from Vertex by 2-0. This is the first big LAN being played on Counter-Strike 2. The grand final will take place on Sunday and US$100 thousand is up for grabs, plus a spot at IEM Katowice.
The first games were in Bo1 matches and Vitality lost to the Russians of BetBoom by 16-14 on Mirage. Following the defeat, Mathieu "ZywOo" dueled FaZe on the Bo3 match. On FaZe's pick, Vitality took the game to OT and started out with a 16-14 advantage. FaZe cameback on a 13-10 victory on Inferno. The decider map, Nuke, favored Finn "karrigan" as they eliminated Vitality on a 13-9 scoreboard.
Vertex played their first match vs MOUZ and was completely dominated on Mirage by 13-2. Next, the Australians battled for their survival against Apeks. On Mirage, they crumbled by 13-5 and on Anubis, Apeks eliminated Vertex by 13-11.
