With the presence of 300 people from the gaming industry, Saudi Arabia's Prince, Mohammed bin Salman, announced Gamers8's evolving into the Esports World Cup (EWC) as of summer 2024. The revelation was made during The New Global Sport Conference, in Riyadh, this Monday.

During the reveal of the Esports World Cup, Ralf Reichert was introduced as the CEO of the Foundation. Reichert is also CEO and one of the founders of ESL FACEIT Group. The EWC will last eight weeks annually during the summer starting 2024. The goal of the competition is to bring together tournaments in FPS, racing, RTS (Real Time Strategy), MOBA, Fighting, Battle Royale, TPS (Third Person Shooter) and Sports and crown the best organization overall. The prize pools will be bigger, encouraging players and attracting more audiences to esports.
The Esports World Cup is the natural next step in Saudi Arabia's journey to become the premier global hub for gaming and esports, offering an unmatched esports experience that pushes the boundaries of the industry. Brazil was represented by André Akkari (FURIA), Jaime Pádua (FURIA) and Yuri "Fly" (Gamers Club and MIBR). Amongst big stars that were present at the conference, Cristiano Ronaldo was part of one of the panels as was Gianni Infantino, FIFA president.
