IEM Katowice: Spirit takes trophy and donk is MVP

17-year-old star Danil "donk" has proven himself as a top athlete throughout IEM Katowice. The Russian player had a rating of 1.70 in the 12 maps he played on, including the three in the grand final against FaZe. The Russian team became the great champion this Sunday, at the Spodek Arena, Poland, and secured their first major title in an international LAN.

Filip "NEO", coach of FaZe managed to return to the stage after 10 years since his first appearance and the first edition of the traditional tournament. The European team, however, did not win a single map against Spirit. The Russians won 13-9 on Nuke, 13-11 on Mirage and 13-3 on Overpass.


Donk was responsible for 82 kills, 29 more than Dmitry "sh1ro", who had the second highest number of eliminations.


With the victory, Spirit took US$400 thousand. FaZe kept US$180 thousandof the US$1 million prize pool.


The 17-year-old was the youngest player to lift a Katowice trophy, the youngest to win MVP and the player with the highest rating.


FaZe participated in six CS2 tournaments (including IEM Katowice) and was a six-time finalist: IEM Sydney, Thunderpick World Championship, CS Asia Championships, BLAST Fall Final and BLAST World Final.


During the final, Oleksandr "s1mple" also appeared, who assured that he will return after PGL Major Copenhagen.
