On a roll... FaZe took out four of the top 5 teams of the world at IEM Sydney, including Vitality, ENCE, MOUZ and NAVI. In this Sunday's final against Complexity, the team led by Finn "karrigan" secured the first trophy in a LAN in Counter-Strike 2, in addition to taking US$ 100 thousand and securing a spot at IEM Katowice 2024. With a packed arena in Australia, Robin "ropz" became the DHL MVP of the tournament after celebrating the 2-1 victory.
A final foi decidida nos detalhes. No mapa de escolha da Complexity, a Overpass ficou para o time de Jonathan "EliGE" por 13 a 10. Em seguida, eles foram para a Nuke, que deu vitória para a FaZe por 13 a 10.
It came all down to details. Overpass, Complexity's map choice, went to Jonathan"EliGE"'s team with a scoreboard of 13-10. Then they went to Nuke, that resulted in a 13-10 victory for FaZe.
Now let's move on to the final map, Ancient... my friends, what a game! FaZe was cooking and went on to lead 10-3. Danish Hakon "hallzerk" scored the first ace of a final to get Complexity back on the game and take them to 10-9.
From 10 to 3 going into OT, Complexity managed to comeback and take the decision to overtime. The narrative started to tighten for FaZe, but Havard "rain", Robin "ropz", Russel "Twistzz", Helvijs "broky" and karrigan didn't let the result of the Ancient at IEM Dallas semis repeat itself. At the time, the quintet lost to ENCE by 31 to 28 also in the third map. By 19 to 16, FaZe took the trophy for the first LAN in CS2.
Another interesting fact about this final is that it gave Filip "NEO" his first title as a coach. The 36-year-old former player was already the EMS Katowice 2014 Major champion when playing for Virtus.pro. In addition to winning in CS2 and CS:GO, NEO also won some tournaments in CS 1.6. Same accomplishment for karrigan, that now has titles in three different CS versions.
